Apparently scram, when used as a synonym for scratch is strictly Welsh dialect. I have been scrammed by cats for longer than I remember, but apparently if I was born the other side of Offa’s Dyke this would not be the case. A shame to be sure, as ‘scram’ is such a poetic and onomatopoeic word that the world deserves to know about it!
